Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats

These treats take the original Rice Krispies a notch higher by incorporating the nutty flavor of browned butter into the combination of gooey marshmallows and crunchy rice Krispie cereal.

Unsalted Butter Mini Marshmallows Vanilla Rice Krispie Cereal Salt

Brown the butter using a clear/stainless steel skillet. Place pats of butter in skillet. Cook until brown bits start to appear. Remove from heat when butter smells toasted and nutty.


Pour brown butter into a large pot. Stir the marshmallows into the butter. Stir in vanilla and salt until all of the marshmallows are completely melted. Remove from heat promptly.

Fold in the Rice Krispie cereal. Pour into prepared pan. Use a spatula to gentle flatten it, but don't press too hard and overpack it. Let cool/set.

Slice into smaller squares. Serve and enjoy!
