Apple Filling

  • 4-5 tart apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp)
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 cup old fashion oats or rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted

  • vanilla ice cream

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F
  • In a medium bowl, bring together all the crisp ingredients. Stir to mix well. Optional: refrigerate for 15-30 minutes, then stir and mix crisp mixture again. This will enable the crisp to be more crumbly.
  • Peel apples then slice or cube them. Bring apples to a large bowl and mix together with flour, vanilla extract, brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Bring apple mixture to a 9" round or square pan. Spread apple evenly onto the pan, then top with crisp mixture.
  • Bake for 40 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and let it cool for 5 minutes
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
