Ingredients

  • 1 lbs ground beef 85% lean, 15% fat
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke optional
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese 1/2-inch cubes
  • 5 burger buns
  • 1/4 head lettuce
  • 1 tomato thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp mayonaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup

Instructions

  • Make cheese stuffed beef patties: Bring together ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, seasoned salt, and liquid smoke (optional). Use your hands to mix seasonings into meat. Add cubed cheddar cheese to ground beef. Use hands again to fold the cheese into the ground beef until they are evenly mixed into it.
  • Divide ground beef mixture into four or five portions (depending on how large you want your patties to be) and roll each portion into a ball.
  • Flatten and shape into patties. Make a slight indention in the middle because when the burger cooks, the middle will expand more than the sides.
  • Cook on stovetop or grill: Heat stovetop or grill at medium/medium high heat, grease skillet if using stovetop, then place patties onto skillet or grill. Flip patties in 3-6 minutes, or once the bottom is golden brown. Once burger patties are cooked, remove promptly.
  • Make sauce: combine ketchup and mayo to make a simple burger sauce.
  • Assemble burger: Sandwich burger patty, lettuce, tomato, sauce between two slices of burger buns.
  • Serve and enjoy!
