Scrub and run sweet potatoes under running water. Peel then cut into big chunks (2-4 chunks per sweet potato)
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add sweet potatoes. Cook for 15-20 minutes, or until potatoes are soft.
Drain water from pot. Transfer sweet potatoes to a large bowl.
Using a potato masher or electric hand mixer, mash sweet potatoes until they are smooth and there are no more clumps.
Add brown sugar, cinnamon powder, milk, butter, vanilla extract and salt to mashed sweet potatoes. Fold ingredients into sweet potatoes, mix to combine.
Serve mashed sweet potatoes in a bowl. Optional: drizzle melted butter to the top. Enjoy!
