Chicken and Dumplings is a classic southern dish that is basically a cross of a soup and a stew, consisting of shredded chicken, dumplings carrots and celery in a thick creamy broth.

Season the chicken with salt and pepper, then brown on both sides and remove from the pan. Next, cook onions until translucent.

INSTRUCTIONS

Return the chicken to the pot, along with the broth, herbs, and garlic. Bring to a boil then simmer for an hour. Remove the chicken and discard the herbs.

Mix dumpling ingredients together and cut into strips roughly ½ inch wide and 2 inches long. Add the dumplings, carrots, and celery to the pot, then allow to simmer.

Remove skin and bones from the chicken and shred the meat. Then return to the pot when the dumplings are cooked.

Season with salt and pepper. Serve and enjoy!
