Really good and easy to prepare. I also added the Wocestershire instead of the Liquid smoke and used chicken breasts. Turned out great and the whole family enjoyed it! I think I will chop up the left over chicken and eat it in a large potato with cheddar cheese! yum!

This turned out so awesome!! I made several substitutions based on what I had but it’s a great base recipe and easily customizable. I used baby rays buffalo bbq sauce, white vinegar, and followed another commenter’s advice about subbing Worcestershire sauce for the liquid smoke. I had bone in skin on chicken thighs but I cooked them on low for eight hours and by the end they completely fell apart and shredded with zero effort. I also added some honey because the buffalo was making it not quite as sweet. Everyone loved it. Perfect meal for when you want something hot but don’t want to heat up the house. Next time I make it I’m planning on adding some potatoes and carrots as well.

As long as you add more sauce (almost double) and use a large enough crockpot to comfortably hold all the chicken, 3.5 hours is probably good. You can extend it to 4 hours if chicken is not tneder to your liking after 3.5 hours.

Nope you do not if you don't want to! I like to broil it to thicken the sauce on the chicken but it's not necessary.
